    Does anyone know if there is a way to capture the MPEG2 stream directly from a Direct TV reciever? If so, what hardware do you need?

    i capture directly from dish network. i am using ati tv wonder card and the updated mmc7 software for my capturing. the mmc7 software allows me to capture at mpeg1 or 2.

    I think what he is saying is that he wants to capture the original mpeg2 stream not the anolog stream that is passed out via s-video or component jacks.

    Aren't certain shows on Direct Tv encoded so people can't copy the shows. Pretty sure they are here in Japan at least, should also be in the States.
