  1. When burning vcd/svcd I use tempeg to make the mpeg compliant, and strip audio from video. I then use ifoedit to author a new dvd.

is there a way to create a chapter.txt file for use in ifoedit?

i tried using a chapter list from a movie similiar in length but it comes out all screwed up (ie. chapters are 30 seconds long)

    TIA

  2. I asked this question a while ago and the answer seems to be no. I'm personally very frusterated with the total lack of good authoring software for under $34,000. I'm content with simple chapters without glitzy menus and even that seems not easily possible. DVDit makes me want to throw-up. Templates!? Give me a break! The kind of people who make movies just might be the kind of people who want to make original DVDs without cookie-cutters. Anyone share this feeling? Anyone know "the way" without dropping 34K on the "real" authoring software?

  3. I hear ya...

Seems every piece of authoring s/w has one great quality, but the rest is crap. If only there was a piece of software that took all the pluses from the othere programs and incorprated it into one kick ass authoring tool.

There has to be a way to create chapter points for use in ifoedit. I mean it seems to easy not to be able to do it. I have screwed around with txt files and almost created them. Does anyone know, or can anyone create something that will generate a chapter list, using runtime, and chapter time as variables??

  4. IfoEdit needs a simple way do incorporate chapters. I'd like to make a DVD that you pop in, press play, and can skip chapters. Nothing fancy for now. That seems very basic and yet with IfoEdit I can't figure out how to do it. The tutorials ALL assume that you are ripping a DVD. That's a horrible assumption. It would be nice if someone with some mad IfoEdit skills could do up a tutorial explaining how to make a simple DVD with chapters ala making a basic VCD with tracks. Please! Someone!

  5. Little overview of editing and authoring sofwares here:

List of all video editing tools with all important features

MYoung, maybe you can expand it with your experience.

  6. Yep, one of my favorite features of VCDeasy is the ability to add chapter points at fixed times, frames, intervals, etc. For most of the stuff I do it isn't worth the effort to build extensive chapter menus, but it is nice to be able to just kind of skip around. Automatically building a chapters list is great for that.

  7. Can you use VCDeasy for DVD chapters ?

  8. Pretty sure it isn't possible, but I can't say I looked that close. VCDeasy is targeted at VCD and SVCDs. It has the tools to do xSVCD stuff that essentially makes for a DVD mpeg file, but I don't think the chapters would carry over. You might be able to make an xSVCD with the chapters, then chapter extracter, then Maestro..... but my head hurts just thinking about that.
