  1. I managed to get a divx film onto dvd-r. The picture isnt as good as I'd expected after seeing the excellent quality on the pc. Should I use interlace or not? it seems quite 'blocky' in parts. Also its got a definate jerk which seems to be at a costant rate. Maybe this was caused in the conversion- original was 23.97fps (I'm in the uk)- when i previewed it in spruce up it seemed fine. Any info on settings please. It seems so close to being right, maybe this is as good as it gets?

If your DVD/TV will handle NTSC you should perhaps make a NTSC DVD not a PAL

You converted a NTSC (Film) @23.97fps to PAL @25fps, normaly NTSC at 29Fps is not so bad.

You should not deinterlace cause divx is never interlaced. The best is to convert to 23,976 with 3:2 pulldown(=29,97 playback on your dvd). Use the tmpgenc wizard and choose ntsc and it will automatically be 23,976 with 3:2 pulldown. And use the highest possible bitrate and if the source is in a low resoulution(lower than 720x480) try use lower dvd resoultion also(352x480) cause resizing up video is never good.

But be sure that you dvd player and tv supports NTSC(most european players and tvs supports ntsc).

  4. Thanks for the replies. I just got a dvd-rw so I'll give them both a go on that & see which works best.
