RM to MPG.... sound out of sync

Okay, I'm totally new to this.... I only started like 3 days ago.
I figure if I explain my goal and what I've done it'll make it easier for y'all to help me right? ...... so here goes....
My goal is to make a VCD to go in my DVD player (APEX AD-1100WB). I've already made a couple with TMPGEnc and Nero using MPGs and they've been fine. Now though I want to use RM files which [I think] I need to convert to MPGs before I can make a disc. So I downloaded EO video and converted my RMs to MPGs then went to Nero and burned them onto a disc, put it in my DVD player and it works fine (crappy quality but still watchable) but the sound is noticably out of sync with the video.
If I've done something wrong or have left something that needs to be done out could you tell me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I've noticed that the it gets worse throughout the video. ie it starts off in sync and gradually goes out.
