  1. Hi guys,

I have been trying to fit two 43 mins dual sound drama vcd (after cutting using TMPGenc) into 1 700Mb/80 mins cd-r using nero.

I have tried using bitrate calculator to determine the final file size. after careful calculation (lowering both video and audio bitrate) the two files are still too big to fit into 1 cd-r. Nero always shows the file size around 850Mb.
For your info, the video bitrate has been lowered to around 950 and audio is 112 stereo.

I have also tried using TMPGenc to resize both the files to 49% or even 47% of the disc (final stage of TMPGenc wizard), i chose 700Mb (ISO) as medium type. However the process still failed.

Anyone of you ever encoutered such problem?
I would be pleased if you guys can advise me on this matter.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

At 112 kbps audio, my calc gives me 1150 (=VCD!) video bitrate for a not overburned 80 min CD with 86 min movie.
Something must be wrong in your TMPGEnc settings, or that no matter what you try, Nero reencodes them to VCD standard.

If you use 90 min CD, you can fit them with plenty of room to spare even with full VCD audio bitrate.

    Mats,
I do not have an answer for you but I routinely can get 49 mins of 352*480 @ 2Mb/s and 224 for audio onto 1 80 min disc. By dropping my resolution to VCD stds and the bitrate by half two(2) 49 min episodes should fit quite nicely. Your parameters seem to be well below mine and could possibly point to a processing problem.
I am sure that the "real experts" can more properly guide your search for the answer. I am just offering a data point for consideration. OBTW, I use Vdub and Tmpgenc.

You are not making standard vcds. Yo must uncheck vcd complaince or nero will reencode.

edsmith77 - I'm not the one who owns this problem. Yes, your calculations match mine. I actually get 2005 video bitrate/224 audio for 49 mins on an 80 min CD to be exact. Our parameters match almost exactly.

You have to choose VCD (non-standard) as your filetype in TMPGEnc, otherwide TMPGEnc multiplexes as a standard VCD and pads the streams to 1150+224 kbps => too big filesize.

  7. Hi guys,

I realised that no matter what percentage of disc (final stage of TMPGenc wizard) that i choose, the final size of the file is still gonna be over 400 Mb. I have set TMPGenc to VCD non-standard under the system tab.

anyone of you know what is going on?

i shall be grateful if you guys can post the procedure here.

    Thanks

    OK! Open up TMPGEnc.
    Exit the wizard.
Select your 43 min MPG file as video source.
Select Stream type: System (Video + Audio)
    Click Settings
Video tab: Stream type MPEG1 Video, Size and Framerate: as original MPG, Aspect Ratio 1:1, Rate control Mode: CBR, Bitrate 1100, Motion search precision - your choise.
Audio tab: Stream type MPEG1 Audio Layer II, Sampling frequency 44100. Cannel mode Dual Channel, Bitrate 128
System tab: Stream Type MPEG1 Video-CD (Non Standard)

    Click OK
    Click Start

That would produce an MPEG that's well below 400 MB

Don't forget that reencoding will give you lower quality both audio and video vise!

    HTH!

  9. Thanks a lot mats.

I have followed that procedure before. yes, exactly what you mentioned.
however, the output file size is still above 400Mb. Argh.. wonder what the problem is.

btw, i am running everything under windows XP. is compatibility an issue?
besides TMPGenc, what else can i use?

    Thanks.

I run XP too. No compatibility issue. How big MPEG do you get, using this method?

  13. Vod,

There is a bug in TMPGEnc 2.59 where even if you choose VCD(Non Standard) it pads it to Standard. Try multiplexing with TMPGEnc 2.58.

  14. its gotta be a bug

    cuz with 86 mins at 112 kbits/s
u can go for 1160-1170 kbits/s video bitrate

btw, Im still using TMPG 2.57
