  1. i have a movie in avi and it's 205mb. when i use tmpgenc it says it can't open it or it doesn't support the file.

  2. i have downloaded some movies form kazaa and i tried to convert it using TMPGEnc and nothing worked. you might try going to mpeg tools and try multiplex it but i doubt i will work. i basicly had ended up deletiing it because i was so frustrated with it.....

  3. Try this in tmpegenc:

    1. goto option/environmental settings...
    2. click the "vfapi-plugin" TAB
    3. Give "Direct Show File Reader" the highest priority, (lower others if you have to)

    That tells tmpeg to use the directshow filter before the others, you should now be able to read/encode anything you can play in the Windows Media Player.

    ...or, if TMPGEnc still refuses, try to open the AVI in VirtualDub, and then frameserve to TMPGEnc. This detour has no negative impact neither quality nor encoding timewise.
