  1. Hi,

I`m trying to burn a non standard SVCD to a CDR, its 786Mb and nero says it won`t fit. The Mpeg files is about 63 minutes. But I have another Mpeg file which is 785Mb and that will fit. This one is around 43 minutes long. Anyone know why this is, I thought you could get around 797Mb on one 702Mb cdr.

    Thanks Doot

It could be that the MPEGs that Neros says wont fit isn't properly multiplexed, so that it needs to be padded, thus winding up > 800 MB... Try VCDEasy, as it will tell you clearly what it does, and why. If your CD writer isn't supported by CDRDAO, then just create the cue/bin and use Nero to burn.

  4. Thanks I`ll try that, I was converting an AVI to SVCD, I lowered the bitrate to around 1800 so I could get the film on two cd`s. CD 2 is fine but CD 1 won`t fit.

did you use the cut tool in tmpgenc to do the cut?

if so you need to make sure that it says mpeg-1 videocd and not mpeg-1 system.

if you cut it when it said system that is why nero tells you its too big.

It's SVCD, so it will be mpeg2

  7. No, I made two projects for CD 1 and 2 and used the source range to make the two cd`s.

  9. I have tried VCDeasy and it came back with an error saying that the file I`m trying to burn is 89 minutes and won`t fit on a 79.57 CDR. The mpg is 51 minutes and is 781 mb, which is less than the 797 that you are allowed. What I don`t get is that I have two files of similar size and one won`t fit.

sounds like the mpeg is being read incorrectly due to a mpeg2 setting.

under system stream setting was it accidentally set for mpeg-2 Program(vbr)
    instead of mpeg-2 Supervideocd(vbr)

i would try to do a simple mulitplex of the file using mpeg-2 supervideocd(vbr) and then try it. a multiplex shouldnt take to long.

Make sure you close down all other progs, and try again.

if it still locks up i suggest a complete shutdown and restart.

It shouldnt lock up like that.

  15. It didn`t lock up it was doing it but looked like it had locked up, I checked the HD and the filesize was getting bigger. Its completed but it still won`t fit onto a 80min CDR
