  1. I have a ATI TV Wonder VE card that I've been using to convert my VHS collection to MPEGs, then burning them to CD-R's. So far it's been going quite well. I have an Apex 2100 DVD player that will play just about anything on a disc, so I've had no problems.

Now, I've just bought a Samsung VHS/DVD unit that says it supports VCD and sVCD. It won't play any of my discs. If there's something else I need to to to these MPEGs other than just burning them to a CD-R to make them into a VCD, please tell me what it is. I have TMPGenc, and I've tried converting to MPEG-2, but to no avail. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

  2. I suggest you take a look at the authoring guides on this site as I am not clear as to what you have been doing in the past. I know a few DVD players will play almost any mpeg file burnt on CD as data and not necessariliy in VCD format (which requires a specific directory struture and 'mode 2' burning). So that may well have been why you had success in the past with your Apex.

Another possibility is that the new Samsung you have cannot read CDr's. Just because a player supports (S)VCD does not mean it will read burnt discs, some only read commercially pressed media. Check your players capabilities in the DVD players list on the left of the pag.
