I have been trying to capture from my vhs to computer in order to burn to vcd. I tried using Ulead Movie Factory, so far I've only been able to capture about 15 minutes and it stops, I read my capture card and there's no restriction. any ideas?
and is there a program that automatic converts it to mpg1 as it captures?

Are you using the trial or full version of Ulead Movie Factory? The trial version might have a 15 minute capture time limit. What kind of video capture card do you have? Try diffrent capture software such as Intervideo WinDVR or Cyberlink PowerVCR 3. They can capture to mpeg 1 and 2.

The most affordable and the best tools to make DVDs from VHS source are:
1- Pinnacle Studio Deluxe: $200 (to capture and edit)
2- JVC VCR model HR-S2901U with S-Video out ( S-Video give over 400
lines horizontally while composite give only 230 lines): $100
3- Softwares needed:
-TMPGEnc to create M2V files ( for Video) and MP2 files (for Audio).
-Reel DVD to create Dolby Digital.
-Nero to burn DVD.
With all these in hand you all can turn VHS into best home DVD. I can say
all DVDs i have made so far from VHS source is about 90% quality of store DVDs (as long as you have pretty good VHS tapes) -
Pike,
You may be running into the FAT32 file size limit in Windows 98 SE. This problem will evaporate if you upgrade to WindowsXP, do a clean install and format your harddrive to the NTFS.
Also, you can save yourself countless hours of frustration by simply buying Ulead's VideoStudio 6.0. ($99.00 USD) You will be able to capture, edit, encode and burn without ever leaving the program.Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. -

I want to thank EL_SEED for the advice, I tried Cyberlink Power VCR and was able to capture more than 30 minutes. I also tried Ulead Video Studio 6, and kept crashing when capturing more than 30 minutes. Thanks again EL_SEED
