Hi to all,
i have always used TMPGENC free (2pass) and thanks to that i can predict exactly the final size of the encoding stuff, that's ok.
Now i've started to use TMPGENC PLUS, and if i use the NEW 2pass vbr i noticed that the final file size is smaller than if i use the OLD 2pass.
It seems that the quality of the new 2pass vbr is better than the old one, but with that i cannot predict the exact final file size. Ofcourse i use the same settings of min/max/average bitrate.
Is this correct?
I'm using the latest version of tmpgenc plus, 2.59.
Thanks!
Gab.

There is a minimum bitrate depending entirely on the final resolution beyond 2pass new fails.
This is ~1400 for 576x480, 1050 for 576x352, ~600 for 352x288
You can see it easily in the encode log, that the "test Q-Value" goes to 1.
It's really sad because with 16:9 or 2.2:1 letterboxed films lower bitrates are easily possible.
