  1. I am having diffiiculty getting clear quality when creating a dvd using the .avi format. I created a picture slide show (with music) using digital photgraphs (KODAK 4.0 megpixal camera) and music in MGI video wave and produced it in the .avi format. It looks clear and great when output to a VHS tape, however when I create a DVD using this same avi tape (using Sonic MYDVD software-direct to disk), there is a blinking in the trees and any darker areas of the photgraphs. THis is not visible on the VHS version of the same tape. I have also done a similar slideshow using scanned in photos and there is no blinking in any of them. (using the same conversion process.) Is there a particular format (i.e., MPEG or ? vs. avi) that creates a better dvd with digitial photographs? Can anyone direct me to a source to answer this question? I tried to use mpeg formats, and they were very blurry vs. the avi. Thanks for any help. DB

  2. For it to be playable in a DVD player, your avi file has to be converted to mpeg. For this use TMPGEnc, a very good mpeg encoder. Sounds to me like the software you are using to author your DVD is doing the encoding and making a poor job of it. Read the how to convert and author guides on this site.
