  1. I have a mpeg 1(I think) file that is around 420 MB(42 min.). I'm trying to encode this into divx, and make it a lot smaller. I've seen files of comparable quality that are 80~90 MB for a 20~25 min video clip, so I was hoping to get mine down to about 160~180.

    I tried following the conversion directions for vcd to divx in the conversion section of this website, but the file size doesn't seem to be affected.

  2. get VDUB (and that MPEG pack)
    Open the MPEG file
    FILTERS: SELECT THE DIVX 5.11 codec
    FILE -> SAVE AS AVI

  3. What is the mpeg pack?

    I've tried using virtualdub already, and the file size was still really large. Is there a specific bitrate that I should be using when I encode?
