  1. Hi everyone,

I'm writing you after hours of strugguling with setting up PlayReady Proxy (Remote) in order to get keys for L1 level.

I'm trying to download content which is L1 DRM protected.

    I followed this post so:

I downloaded the PlayReady Proxy extension, in Edge. I disabled Windevine DRM and enabled PlayReady DRM for Windows in edge://flags.

I followed the instructions on the GitHub of PlayReadyProxy-API-main. I have a .prd file which is:universal_media_corporation_led_tv_6683_sl3000. prd.

I have others too but I'm not able to get a functioning result.

I "flask run" the remote environment. I see it communicates with the extension but I get results like:

    Code:
    2026-10-31 00:00:43 - werkzeug - INFO - 127.0.0.1 - - [31/Oct/2026 00:00:43] "GET /api/playready/NVIDIA/open HTTP/1.1" 500 -

    Or, example:

And I made tests with this website: https://reference.dashif.org/dash.js/v4.4.0/samples/drm/playready.html

I'm not even able to get any result when trying to download at L3 level this way: a content I'm easily downloading with a .wvd file as L3 level using WinedevineProxy2 I'm not able to get it with the PlayReady Proxy configuration.

What do I do wrong? How to get something functioning?!

Thank you for your help, I'm a bit lost!

  2. So your trying to use a playready browser extension with a L3 widevine cdm ?

You need to do more research my friend

  3. Just use playreadyproxy2 instead
    https://github.com/DevLARLEY/PlayreadyProxy2

    P.S.
If the content is protected only by Widevine L1, PlayReady extensions / methods will not work. You need a real L1 Widevine CDM for those titles
Some services ship both Widevine L1 and PlayReady SL3000 on the same stream. In that case you can use a PlayReady SL3000 device to pull the keys

    Good luck learning

Thank you for your answer, I'm.sorry as I said I'm new to this. I thought I would have some help on this fourm and some kindness, not some mocking. Any EXPLICIT explanation is welcome.

I'm trying to use PlayReady Proxy with a PlayReady Remote virtual environment with a .prd file, in order to have a 1080p video (which needs L1 — I understood its impossible to get L1 with Widevine, I need to have a PlayReady remote in order to fake the trusted environment). Correct me if I'm wrong.

So yo mean that if I have a real wvd file from, for exemple, my old Galaxy S10+ I dont use anymore, theorically it will work with Widevine (and the Vlnesless or WidevineRemote2 extensions?) for L1 DRM?

Sorry if it seems a dumb question for you but I'm learning, every piece of information is useful to me and of course AI won't answer these questions.

  6. I really dont understand what your trying to do, DM me if you want.

Are you trying to use these browser extensions to get a cdm ?

They are intended for use with your own, local cdm to get you keys/manifests/whole commands so you can download vods (or get live keys) from services. You play the vod on the website and the extension will try to get you the keys/manifest/cmd. It is normal behaviour for the vod not to play on some sites as it attempts to block you, but you can still get the info as it only takes milliseconds to do its thing.

The 'remote' aspect is if you have access (normally paid) to a chrome cdm api or some other online cdm api you have access to - instead of using your own local device.

Playready Proxy will only work with PRD files (playready devices, SL2K or SL3K)
Widevine Proxy 2 (WP2) will only work with WVD - v2 widevine device files
    Vineless will work with both
You should only have 1 enabled at a time

Some services need a L1 wvd for FHD/UHD
Some services need a Whitelisted L1 wvd for FHD/UHD
Some services will not work at all with Playready (example NowTV and DirecTV USA)

Some services, and increasingly more, will reject any and all of these browser extensions - its better to learn the key challenges yourself from the services you want to download from.
