Hello there!
After playing a tape and fast-forwarding it, this model stopped playing the tape normally; now the video seems to be dragging. I guess something happened to the gears or belts underneath.

This had happened before, but as I tested the tapes, it went back to normal. I was cautious and hadn't fast-forwarded or rewound on this model since then—until yesterday!

Damn. The problem is back again, and now, no matter how much I try testing the tapes, it just won't go back to normal again!


Well, I'm thinking about removing the tape tray myself to check the gears underneath. I've already been told I need to replace the belts.

But I’d appreciate it if anyone could give me some tips or advice on what to watch out for as I try to fix this problem myself.

Thank your for the reply... Is that the only thing I need to do to get the tape running normally? Or could something harder to fix have happened?

How should we know? The player on your picture looks pretty worn.

I forgot to tell you to clean the whole tape path first (i mean that's obvious to me) with a chamois + alcohol iso 90%. The Drum etc, old tapes can play tricks sometimes
