    Just as a complement you can do a bob(0,1) to visualize the frames to compare (any other deinterlacing "falsifies" the result), but you loose the check for quality of the image across time because of the "bobbing" effect.

    A resize introduce regression, and in general should not be necessary. To match the frame/fields in horizontal and vertical position use crop() and addborders(), which are lossless operators.
    Yes, i should have not made the resize and slight denoise in my comparison, oops. Only deinterlace. (I can't compare them interlaced because a video file was encoded in a more rare codec so my video players and even VLC couldn't play that video).

    Even Hi8 and Betacam can have noise, but i love those 2 formats for how good they are and they generally are very clean unless you take the worst of all the Hi8 tapes and record in them or capture them (can happen, the early 90's Sony Hi8 tapes both in MP and ME were horrible and clogged heads).

    The late 90's Hi8 XR cameras and their video heads are very very good for capturing and recording, i prefer them more than the Hi8 VCRs except for some Hi8 VCRs that had PCM audio and TBC.

    Your video players and VLC to compare videos??? Use Avisynth and eventually FFmpeg

    I use ffmpeg with a command in the CMD to compare my videos too, but i think that video encoded with that codec didn’t play too, when i get back to home i will see again if it plays or not.

    What i said about the video players and VLC in reality i was referring that not even my video players and VLC could play the video, i need to see again if it plays with ffmpeg.
