VLC and other Players busted on playing DVDs

I couldn't play bluray to save my life. I managed to make VLC play BluRay and now it does the struggle bus with DVDs and won't play 'em. What did I mess up?

I have windows media player. Windows Media player classic. power DVD.

Nothing works. I thought originally it was that stupid Make DVD or whatever it's called. I uninstalled it and nothing went back to normal. I've tried just about everything, from uninstalling and reinstalling VLC, manually adding things in...

I've added the libdiv thing even though it was there. I’ve added the AACS for Blu-ray

I'm not sure what else can be done.

Try doing a System Restore to a point before everything went wrong.

I don't think my computer has a way to remember that considering it's also been playing "endless loop, see loop endless" because it freezes and needs hard reboot a lot.

Start it and click SFC-scan.

Wait until it's finished.
If errors have been found and fixed, restart the computer.

Then restart Dism-GUI.
Click Restore, then Online.

IMPORTANT!
Be sure to wait until the scan and repair are complete, and do not interrupt the process under any circumstances.
If you're lucky, your system image will be repaired afterward.

Restart your computer afterward.

So I did this. VLC and other players are still not fixed for DVD playback. The computer did get mildly stuck in an endless loop twice over before going ok. So what's the next step?

Search for regedit and start it as admin.
Navigate to this key:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

On the right-hand side, the following entries may appear among others:

LowerFilters
UpperFilters

If these are present, delete them.

Then close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
Your drive should now be able to read and play DVDs again.

No.
Close regedit and search for device manager and start it.
Locate DVD/CD-ROM Drives
Here is listed your DVD drive. Rightclick it and select deinstall device.
Then click on the Monitor symbol in the menu.
This does a scan for new hardware. Your DVD Drive should be found and reinstalled.

Maybe this can solve your issue.
