Hi,
I have an older PCIE MB that does have old PCI slots, but no AGP slots. From what I understand, a few of the old ATI AIO AGP cards are quite good for analog video to digital due to both the hardware and the software they could use. There was some software called Soap I think?
If I can't find an old AGP computer in my area to buy, what would I be losing if I used an ATI USB 600 instead? Anything?
My current old system is running Windows XP Pro, so from an OS standpoint I should be gtg.
I'm also looking for a replacement SVHS player, as mine stopped working for unknown reasons, other then age. Anyone know of a reputable dealer out there?
I'm in Canada BTW.
Thanks for your help!

Buy used PC or motherboard equipped with AGP connector - this is simplest approach to solve your problem.

lordsmurf at digitalfaq.com discusses the difference: https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/video-capture/2451-ati-wonder-7500-a.html
He also has ATI 600 and clones here: https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/marketplace/8253-sale-ati-600-a.html
IIRC, not all ATI 600 are the same. Search his posts at digitalfaq.com (which is his home). You can try and PM him, but he's usually very busy. -
The most reputable seller is again, lordsmurf. You might also try contacting Deter, but I don't know if he still sells VCRs. Machines from either will be premium priced, but guaranteed high quality.
@ls...is our deal for getting blueberries for recommending you still good??? ;-p -
I don't even know how you would mail any kind of VCR, SVHS or otherwise, safely, considering how old they are.

Shipping and breaking during shipping ISN'T the typical problem as long as care has been taken to do a good job of packing.
You have a much higher chance that the old used VCR was dead before shipping and was misrepresented as working by the seller.. Proving that is the case becomes a "he said" type of issue..
Finding good working used MBs with AGP port may prove to be even harder than finding a honest used VCR seller,
AGP interface showed up on select MBs with socket 7 Pentium processors (1996 or so), Slot 1 Pentium 2 processors (1997 or so).. Fell out of favor once PCI-e interface was introduced (2003) and by 2010 it was dead on arrival as all but perhaps a few "industrial" MB manufacturers had ceased including AGP (by then the AGP chipset was a very old version since development had ceased yrs before 2010..)
One should also acknowledge that there were several versions of AGP slots, one for 1.5V and one for 3.3V support, early cards were typically 1.5V ONLY and keyed only for 1.5V slots and will not fit into a 3.3V slot. Later some cards could interchange between the two slots..
Whatever used MB you find, be prepared to spend a bunch of time recapping the board if you want the board to be stable.
