    Hello,

A month or so ago Tom Saurus recommended ytdlp-interface to me, I tried it and it worked great on a couple of places I go, such as YouTube. I love the easy installation. But while trying to install a different program, I was trying to edit my System Path and accidentally deleted the entry for Ffmpeg. I have all of my downloader related programs in the same place, Ffmpeg/bin. All of my downloaders stopped working. I saw the problem and put the Path entry for Ffmpeg back, and all of them started working properly again, except for ytdlp-interface. The Path entry is exactly as it was before.

Now it works on other sites, but not YouTube. I copy a youtube link which is supposed to be an .mp4 file, and all it downloads is a .webp file that is just a thumbnail. I tried updating it to the latest version, along with yt-dlp and Ffmpeg, but no change. I thought that it might be YouTube, as they actively try to block downloading. But I have other YouTube downloaders, and they work fine. This isn't critical or anything, I would just like to learn about this, if it's possible.

Has anyone seen this? Have a solution, perhaps?

However, I should say that this is a quirky laptop, so it is entirely possible that has something to do with it. Stranger things have happened with it.

    Thanks in advance, as always,

    Ax

  2. I have ytdlp-interface,
and it works well on youtube as well as other sites.

keep in mind that you can:
1- use a local copy of ffmpeg/ffprobe in ytdlp-interface folder or
2- add the location of the bin folder to yt-dlp.conf, so ytdlp.exe knows where it is.
    Ex: --ffmpeg-location "C:\\Portable\\PortableApps\\ffmpeg\\bin"

Try #2 and see if that changes things for you.

I've never had an issue with yt-dlp or yt-dlp interface on Youtube but I don't grab things from Youtube very often. That said, I randomly tried grabbing a video and it failed with yt-dlp interface but was successful with yt-dlp, NickVision Parabolic which uses yt-dlp, and VCap Downloader which I don't think uses yt-dlp.

That said, the error message in the yt-dlp interface logs:

    [GUI] got error executing command line: yt-dlp.exe --no-warnings -j --cookies-from-browser chrome -o "%(title)s.%(ext)s" -S "res:1080,vext:mkv,aext:m4a,fps,vcodec:h264,acodec :ac3" "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ"

ERROR: Could not copy Chrome cookie database. See https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/7271 for more info

Reading that github link and looking at the yt-dlp interface settings I went to the yt-dlp tab and unchecked "load cookies from" which has the dropdown menu for selecting the browser. After disabling that setting I could now download from Youtube again.

Edit: I don't recall ever enabling the loading of cookies setting. I don't know if it's enabled by default or not.

Did all that... No change. The error that stands out in the log, is ERROR: unable to download video data: HTTP Error 403 Forbidden. Oh well, I guess I will just keep using 4k Video Downloader+ or 3D Youtube Downloader, as they both work fine.
