  1. Hey everyone,

I知 using DeHalo_alpha in AviSynth to reduce halo artifacts, but it tends to lose details, especially with DV footage.

I知 thinking about denoising and AI sharpening the video first before applying DeHalo_alpha.

    Is this a common approach?

    Thanks

Denoising and Dehaloing order is questionable (may be better before or after, depending on the source) but Sharpening will increasing halos for sure, so better to de_halo before.

As always, experiment with your own material!

Yes. Sharpening works by accentuating luma differences and this very often creates a halo.

  4. a. don't blindly use DeHalo_alpha, adjust its settings
    b. try FineDehalo (also adjust the settings) which uses DeHalo_alpha and tries to keep more details
