Well it's kinda hard to provide download commands for episodes that aren't even available on the vrt be show you requested. Look for another source for viewing and then attempt to download them

I discovered this forum (and thread) very recently, because I want to download Het Eiland in high quality. But now I've got this rabbithole first to explore...

I'm using a virtual Debian 12 (running on an Openmediavault system), and have managed to put N_m3u8DL-RE and mp4decrypt in the same folder, and I installed ffmpeg and MKVToolNix. I was then able to download an episode of Het weer.

I used the The Stream Detector in Chrome, and some hints from this thread, to form this command:

I don't really understand what this header adds, but that's due to my newbness, I assume.

The command resulted in 4 files (which surprised me, I would have expected the three non-mkv files to have been deleted):

Anyone else having issues downloading the subtitles from recent VRTMAX videos using N_m3u8DL-RE? The subtitles always cut off whenever there's a newline in the caption. For example take Dagelijkse Kost (https://www.vrt.be/vrtmax/a-z/dagelijkse-kost/14/dagelijkse-kost-d20240630/).

I always use the external VTT subtitles because of this. It used to do this last year, then it was fixed for a bit and now it seems to be broken again. I just mux the vtt (after converting it to srt) and call it a day.

Do you mean you use option --mux-after-done skip_sub=true keep=true? If so, then how do you "mux" the VTT subtitels with the video later?

I couldn't wait, and figured out how to use 'Tampermonkey', the 'EME Logger', 'HTTP Toolkit' and the python script vrt.py (uploaded earlier in this thread).

I was able to download the first episode, hooray!


But (aside from the above-mentioned subtitle question - although the subtitles of S01E01 of Het Eiland seem okay) I hope there is another way to obtain PSSH and 'payload token' (for the python script vrt.py), so no human intervention is needed. I assume there is, since posters spit out keys with such ease...

So any hints on that front are welcome as well!

Today I decided to automate vrt.be (without looking at widefrog source code, I want to do it by myself).
To get streams a request with vrtPlayerToken was needed, this token can be obtained with a request like this one :

But I was already able to download that episode. I'm not looking for the codes themselves, but a way to find them without manually looking here and there in programs.

I've got the impression that is possible.

So that's why I'm interested in learning more about the above-mentioned scripts, or that object with the Items array and how to obtain it.

For VRT I always get the PSSH from the init.mp4 file instead of generating/calculating it. It works in 99% of cases, but I've had a couple weird ones where the PSSH did not match the one from EME Logger. init.mp4 PSSH is always correct.

This is a code that you put in cmd or command prompt. When you are inside the folder where the 3 tools you downloaded are, just go to the address bar above and type cmd and press enter. It will open the command prompt.
Now here, you will paste that code.
This code will automatically download and decrypt the video and audio and also merge them so you can have your final content (be aware though, the link in double quotes might have expired and you will have to get a fresh one... that's explained later in this post).

Now, for each episode, you will have to change two parts of this code.

The first is the KID:KEY. The KID:KEY in the code above is this

so you will change this, to the next one of the list cedric posted.

Now you will have to change the second thing, that's the MPD url.
The MPD is the file that contains all the segments of the video/audio for the specific episode.
You will have to find the MPD manually.
You can find the MPD if you open Chrome, right click -> inspect. Go to the network tab. Type MPD in the filter box above and start playing your episode (it's important to have the network tab open BEFORE playing the video). A link should show up. Right click it, copy -> copy link address. This will give you the MPD link for that episode so just change it in the code.

I have no idea what your OS is but you can install n_m3u8dl-re this way. Download and put in the same folder (of your choice) the following programs (if you download a zip, then search in it the right executable file):
- N_m3u8DL-RE
- ffmpeg
- mp4decrypt

Then open cmd in that folder and run the previous commands. For example if you use windows, the content of that folder should have:
- N_m3u8DL-RE.exe
- ffmpeg.exe
- mp4decrypt.exe

Already explained. If you downloaded archives or folders, you need to search in them the right executable and copy it. It isn't that hard to open a folder/archive and look inside it

Mate, you've been here for all this time, several people (including myself) have helped and explained things to you and you're still not grasping even the basics of what you need to do?
Do some research instead of just asking people to download the videos for you. The process is ridiculously simple, getting the keys is the hard part and that has already been done for you. Downloading the video is as simple as putting the right (extracted, this is a KEYWORD for your google search) files in a folder and running the command from command prompt.
If this is too hard for you, look up some YouTube videos or whatever, but at least put in some effort...
