  4. Search for textstream you will see textstream_dut=1000.dash change .dash to .vtt and right click on the page and select save as that will dowload the vtt file dont forget to enable subs on the player first example link >> https://remix-cf.lwc.vrtcdn.be/remix/df2bbd97-6499-49d0-b1cd-3c79d9cd1202/remix.ism/da...m_dut=1000.vtt

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but can somebody show me where to get the vtt files from vrt max? I do not find them in the network tab when inspecting a page of a certain vrt max episode... How to get the URL for the vtt?

you have the mpd url so you can extract only subtitles using n_m3u8dl-re

    for example for this video
    https://www.vrt.be/vrtmax/a-z/thuis/31/thuis-s31a5984/

    this is mpd url
    Code:
    https://vod.vrtcdn.be/ondemand/content/vod/vid-58dfda71-70d6-4dfd-8ba1-7b2e84aa02a4-CDN_2_HD2024MF/vid-58dfda71-70d6-4dfd-8ba1-7b2e84aa02a4-CDN_2_HD2024MF_nodrm_51ace249-47ee-4eaf-af51-9f738af111eb.ism/.mpd?filter=%28%21%28type%3D%3D%22audio%22%26%26FourCC%21%3D%22AACL%22%29%29
    this is the command
    Code:
    N_m3u8DL-RE --sub-only "https://vod.vrtcdn.be/ondemand/content/vod/vid-58dfda71-70d6-4dfd-8ba1-7b2e84aa02a4-CDN_2_HD2024MF/vid-58dfda71-70d6-4dfd-8ba1-7b2e84aa02a4-CDN_2_HD2024MF_nodrm_51ace249-47ee-4eaf-af51-9f738af111eb.ism/.mpd?filter=%28%21%28type%3D%3D%22audio%22%26%26FourCC%21%3D%22AACL%22%29%29" --save-name "video-sub"

    Thanks for the info!

In the meanwhile I found how to get the vtt file directly:

    1. Go to the video you want the subtitles of and play it. Enable the subtitles.
    2. Inspect the page (F12) and go to network tab.
    3. Look for "textstream". Right click one of the lines and copy the URL. You get something like:

    4. Change the "...textstream_dut=1000-2529600.dash" part with "...textstream_dut=1000.vtt" and paste that URL in your browser to get the full subtitles. (You can save the page to a vtt file.)
    5. If you want, convert the vtt to srt online. There are plenty of online tools that do that job.
