    How disable black line (border)?
    Panasonic DMR-EH58
    Capture component: Behold 8
    Capture HDMI: No name HDMI Video Campure (to USB-C)

    VHS->Capture
    No border

    VHS->DMR->Capture (Component) (work TBC)
    Add black border. Part of the left image has been lost

    VHS->DMR->Capture (HDMI) (TBC not work?)
    no border

  2. There are always black borders on the analog outputs, only the HDMI out does not have them (same with most other dvd recorders and players and other devices that digitize video.)

    I have a EH58 myself and the TBC definitely works whatever output you use including HDMI (it would be very odd if it didn't.) Maybe it just doesn't look like it since you are now seeing the full borders of the video which may not look 100% clean.

    This is overscan data. It's normal, it's expected. The signal is 704, the palette is 720. You can crop to 704x576, leave it interlaced. In fact, cropping 16 pixels is the correct way to crop prior to 720x540 (4:3) resize.

    I may see some wiggling and tearing in the HDMI output, and the line TBC may not be active.

    Using a cheap HDMI capture card is a huge mistake. You can readily see the typical awful blown exposure. You're making crappy video conversions.

    Border thickness depends on how the capture card handles the HBI signal burst, Some are advanced, some are retarded, some are somewhere in the middle, line TBCs tend to have thin border because the way they process scan lines in a memory buffer, so they have a better prediction on where the line starts exactly because of that delay advantage.

    To remove it completely you're going to make compromises, the vertical resolution will have to be cropped as well to keep the aspect ratio, The resulting resolution will be illegal, so it must be resized to a legal resolution. resizing it to a higher resolution is recommended or you will get the resizing jagged edges, Imagine going from say 560 lines back to 576 lines, that will destroy the video. The best compromise is mask the junk.

  6. DVD Recorders in analog passthrough may crop the picture horizontally slightly. See the discussion around here:

    So one may loose a few pixels. There's nothing one can do about it.
    And by the way be careful with the levels, e.g. blown out (DMR) or clipped whites (HDMI, loosing details in the brights). More important than a few pixels loss, IMO.

    Thanks.

    HDMI use only test.
    I use component (YPbPr) output.
