I want to cut a large AVI file into two smaller files. When I use Virtualdub or Virtualdub2 with direct stream copy, the resulting videos require noticeable buffering in media players. The original huge file plays immediately, without any delays. Media info implies they are identical files (except for the sizes), but something must be different. Some header info? How can I fix? Thanks.

  2. You could try avidemux.
Load your avi, click A, move the slider to half the duration, click B.
Set video and audio codec to copy and set avimuxer.
Then click the save video button.
Repeat the operation with A on half the duration and B at the end.

¿Have you checked whether "audio interleaving" is enabled?
    MAYBE it has been disabled.

I tried Avidemux first, but the audio lost sync.
I selected "direct stream copy" under the audio and video menus in Virtualdub, saving as "old format AVI." How I saved it looks like the problem. Choosing "save video" or "stream copy" instead seems to eliminate the buffering delay. Thanks, guys!
