ELI5/n00b Guide - Ripping DVDs

Need an ELI5/n00b Guide. I'm generally pretty good at figuring out anything IT related with or without prior knowledge or understanding but don't know what the hell I'm. Reading below.

I got Hogans Heroes back for Christmas, ripped it and have been trying to watch it.
I've always used MakeMKV for everything and had no issues.

This is the first time I've encountered what being discussed here and is frankly over my head. I understand what's happening but not how to fix it.

What do I need to do differently when ripping the second time around? Software, Syntax/Arguments, etc.. to get single file episodes. They don't need to be mkv, mpeg2 is fine, mp4, whatever, as long as it's a full quality aka no compression. I'm not worried about space.

The issue is these damn pulldown flags that cause the video to get choppy and desync. Tried alternate players but that's not viable npnt term.
