I had a Full HD movie in my collection with an overall bad picture quality.
Reading around, I was tipped about Topaz video AI.
I installed this on my M2 Max MacStudio and let him do the trick.

This conversion gave a very well output, but it took around 5 days to do this.

Never did this upscaling with AI tools before. The movie playing time is about 2 hours.
I was wondering if this 5 days processing time is normal?

  2. Not a Mac user.
Assuming the movie has 2hrs@25fps and it takes 100hrs to convert,.. so it's converting with 0.5fps.
That seems slow assuming it's not cpu only but uses some ai chips, but comparing it to a current NVIDIA GPU on Windows.
Looking at a benchmark os an M3 Max, which should only less than 20% faster iirc.:

    the speed might be correct.

You can run the benchmarking (Process > Benchmark, or, Ctrl/Cmd + B) and compare it to the results in that thread to know for sure,...
