    Hello,
Downloaded a full movie file, format mkv.
    It has several subtitles.
Followed instructions how to extract a subtitle (English) with "gMKVExtractGUI.exe".
    Got two files: "*[eng].idx" and " *[eng].sub".
Opened the "*[eng].sub" file with 'Notepad' and got only Giberish, attached screenshot.
Playing the movie with any installed player, subtitles show normal and nice.
    Need some help, please.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  3. IDX/SUB subs are bitmap images, not text.

  4. Someone will correct me but I think the IDX can be run through Subtitle Edit OCR Tesseract option.

Tesseract is an option to download within Subtitle Edit. Then you see the display of Tesseract changing the IDX to alpha characters. When done, save as SRT in Subtitle Edit. Tesseract has a wide selection of options.

  5. From above. My bad. The Tesseract works with VOB files. I tried an IDX file in Subtitle Edit and it errored out. If you can extract as VOB, Subtitle Edit may be helpful.

Subtitle Edit OCR the Sub file not the IDX.

  7. I would like to know if the answer worked just for my own use. I haven't got any SUPs to practice with.
