I am using a cd-rw to test my (S)VCD's on my standalone player before burning them on a cd-r..
How many times can I erase my cd and start over before I start losing quality?
Also, should I use full erase or fast erase (NERO)..
Full erase takes 20 minutes, fast erase takes 2 minutes, lol..
Any input would be helpfull
Thanks
BTW the Medium is a Memorex Platinum Rewrite (low speed 4X)

You should be able to erase the CD-RW with quick erase as many times as the CD-RW says it will last.
(IE, depends on the brand...just burn away!! Keep up the testing on RWs, it saves discs!)Tom Green Sucks! -
I'd suggest 100 times (my opinion).
It is always better to do a full erase (fast erase MIGHT leave some bad sectors) - otherwise there wouldn't be an option, would there?

Not sure I would agree with this. AFAIK, fast erase simply erases the Table Of Contents part of the disk, making it APPEAR empty. The data is still actually there and can be recovered by experts in this kind of matter. Full erase actually write NULL data to the entire disk. So fast erase should be sufficient in this case. Its what I use and has never given me any problems.Originally Posted by 0 kewl
As for lifetime of CDRW's, I believe they should last at least 1000 erase-write cycles. -
I know I've had problems with the Memorex 4X RW's
Out of a 25 spindle, I had 4 that wouldn't rewrite the first time, and 3 more that started giving me that problem after about 3 cycles.
I tried full erase w/ Nero and CloneCD, I tried leaving them out in the sun...
I guess I know now not to buy their crappy discs againwhat are you askin' me for...
I'm an idiot!
