    has anyone here ever used a video file repair tool and fixed a corrupted .mp4?

    For files that are truncated, (index didn't get written, camera crashed, etc)
    You can try untrunc in the software section of this site.

    Program needs a good file recorded on the same device, same settings, to use as a
    model

    I havent tried one for mp4 that say corrupted, but i tried one for avi that fixed an broken index, an mp4 repair tool could maybe help fix things.. ellse maybe the pixel format of the video is not supported by the player, then it can say that the video is corrupted, maybe it help find an program to switch pixel format (ie. switch from yuv444p to yuv420p).

    Yes. The basis is a good mp4 file recorded on the same device with the same settings.
