  1. I found about a dozen VHS-C tapes while cleaning out some cupboards. I don’t have the adapter so that is something I’ll get off Amazon.

I have the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V which has hardly been used but I thought considering how much it cost about 15 years ago I might as well put it to some use.

I’ve gone through the manual and it shows you how to record VHS to DVD but I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to directly record onto my MacBook Pro that is as old as the Recorder but if I could download them as a HEVC file I could save it to my iCloud camera roll.

Please go easy on the technical stuff as I don’t know a lot but am willing to learn.

First of all you are lucky to have your Panasonic DMR-EZ47V hopefully still working, which will enable you to create a DVD. Once you have a finalized DVD, you can convert the contents to video format such as mp4 using free software like HandBrake or others.
There is no way that you can record directly to your MacBook, unless you invest in a VHS-C player/recorder that converts directly to the format that you need.

The 47V has HDMI Out, so capturing via HDMI is a possibility:

    https://www.makeuseof.com/best-capture-cards-mac/

I'm not a Mac user, so I don't know what software could be used, but I can say that HDMI capture from one of these decks (I own a 48V) is a successful, good quality process in Windows. I use a Startech USB3HDCAP digitiser. It must be used in conjunction with a HDMI splitter though.

Alternatively, I'm sure there are analogue capture options for Mac using the S-Video Out.

For a dozen tapes though it probably wouldn't be worth it, depending on how good the DVD option that Subtitles mentioned, and how keen/techo you are.

You will, of course, have to get a VHS-C adapter so you can play your tapes in the 47V.

That's good to know Alwyn about the HDMI option. I didn't expect to have that 15 years ago.
The DVD option is the cheapest way to go, unless you want to invest in a capture device for MAC, which are not cheap, in addition to buying the VHS-C adapter.
Perhaps you can borrow one from a friend (the VHS-C adapter) for few days until you finish the job.

Eric-Jan, I suspect that that is the case; "Diga" is mentioned in the sales blurb:

Looks like a nice device…. multi system, but plays SuperVHS at normal VHS resolution.

I will also say I have the PAL 48V and it's stabilisation/DIGA/Refresh is just as vicious as the ES-15.

I think DIGA is just branding that has never meant anything. Here is a current Japanese Blu-ray recorder that has no analog connections whatsoever, under the DIGA brand: https://panasonic.jp/diga/products/zr1.html
My YouTube channel with little clips: vhs-decode, comparing TBC, etc.

That's no use… can't read that language, no English link ?

    found this with Google:

    "Panasonic Dmr-ez47v Dvd-rec/vcr Combo-dvb Tuner

    https://www.stereonet.com › forums › topic › 180452-...
The VHS Refresh Dubbing feature utilises two technologies that literally 'clean-up' the signal from the VHS tape. The Time Based Corrector reduces the jitter …"

What? My point is already made with the first photo on the page (which says "DIGA") and a photo further down (showing that the only hookups are digital).
