Cheap Samsung "combo" better than a PhilipS VR1000 (S-VHS with TBC) on VHS

"interlace" seems "more"

"Interlace seems more" means little. If the video on tape is interlaced, on fast moving scene the effect must be evident.

Once more, capture lossless YUV 4:2:2 at 25 frames (50 fields) per second and post a raw capture from both VCRs for a better comparison.

Maybe the VR1000 was rode hard and put away wet.
I destroyed a VR1000 and now have a VR1100.
They DO go bad.

The one i have (that is in pristine condition externally.. with no noises or issues for what i can see) has the MENU button on remote not working (something with the logic IC on the remote, contacts are ok and IR is trasmtting..but the impulases are probably wrong)
BTW... i can ask you if.. disabling the "digital 3R" the images becomes a little bit more "grained?" just to understand if i need to disable this (buying a new remote) to reach a better quality on details (and increasing noise)

I don't capture much anymore anyway....but the stuff I captured in the past was usually a "get it to digital before the tape dies" situation.

It's a type of "edge correction" that is lousy.
A possible side effect is messy interlace.

OK, thank you... probably i will use the PHilips VR1000 for "bad" tapes... and the Samsung Combo for "good" tapes...

verytahnk you pointing me to the Digital 3R... but i can't see differences enabling or disabling..

Also i'm not sure if i need to use "sharp" smartpicture or not...

BUT after buying the PhilipsVR1000 i can't reach the same quality...
it's possible to see tha the "interlace" seems "more" (no idea on how is possible) on captured footage from the Philips.

I have the same impression when comparing Toshiba (a Samsung clone) with JVC or Panasonic.

It seems that "Innovative V3 Technology" ((this is what I have on my Toshiba) gives something there.
