Hi,
In the first screen the color of the subs of the original DVD,

once extracted I translated the subs and I wanted to have the same color so I copied the "Set Color code: e2=0 e1=8 p=9 b=0"
why if it's different?

The original subpictures use one unique color for:
- background
- outline
- anti-alias
- text
Your own subpictures are lacking the anti-alias one, plus outline and text use the same color. Without knowing more details how you created your subpictures I can only assume that the problem lies there, not in DVDsubedit. -
I extracted the .sup from the .VOB and translated it with subtitle edit saving it in .srt and with SubtitleCreator transformed into .sup then with DVDsubedit changed the color code like that of the .VOB
I find an English sub with one color and an Italian one with another I would have liked at least one identical color for both but if I take the the Italian's color code and apply it to all the subs, the English ones are always different

OK, then you just need to re-assign the colors of the English subpictues.
It seems you need to:
assign "e1" to light gray
assign "e2" to black
That should do the trick.
Don't forget to select the English track first in the top right corner (do not leave it on "All Streams").
Btw, I do not recommend SubtitleCreator for making subpictures from text (srt). It is very buggy.Last edited by Skiller; 30th Dec 2022 at 21:05.

Some years ago I used SubtitleCreator v2.3rc1 if I needed to create DVD subpicture subtitles from SRT subs converted from US broadcast closed captions. While things like musical note symbols and bracketed sound effects such as "[Door slams]" or "[Sighs]" had to be corrected manually, there wasn't much else available. Since I have moved away from DVD authoring, I have not looked for better, newer software for creating DVD subpicture subtitles.
I think that Donnje would probably appreciate a recommendation for better software, assuming something free exists for converting SRT subtitles into DVD subpicture subtitles that can be imported directly into Muxman for authoring,Ignore list: hello_hello, tried, TechLord, Snoopy329 -
Unfortunately I don't know of any beginner friendly method which produces nice looking DVD subpictures for use in Muxman. The subpictures that SubtitleCreator spits out are not exactly bad looking, but it has some unpredictable behaviour. I remember I used to get weird dots at the bottom of some subpictures. Also my main issue with it was that, no matter what you do, it outputs cropped subpictures, which for authoring is less compatible compared to full-size subpictures.
Then it would randomly freeze when exporting or spazz out when fiddling with stuff.
Anyways, the standard method I developed is rather complicated but it does use freeware only.
So If anyone is interested, this is roughly how I do it. It results in pretty nice looking subpictures, here is an example:
[Attachment 68465 - Click to enlarge]
1) Create or prepare subtitles in Aegisub. I use a custom style template I standardized for my DVDs (can post it if someone is interested); save as ASS.
2) Make a small AviSynth script (input.avs) that has one line (requires VSFilter.dll):
Code:MaskSub("Subtitles.ass",720,576,25,150000)
Code:C:\path\avs2bdnxml.exe -v 576i -f 25 -a 0 -p0 -o output_SUP.xml C:\path\input.avs
To run BDSup2Sub with this parameter, create a BAT file where BDSup2Sub.jar is located with this command line:
Code:java -jar BDSup2Sub.jar /acrop:0
- Alpha Threshold: 20
- Med/Low Threshold: 96
- Hi/Med Threshold: 200
You may output as DVD-SUP from BDSup2Sub here.
For anamorphic widescreen, I do all of this twice because ideally 16:9 and 4:3 output modes of a player have individual subpictures with adjusted pixel aspect ratio and placement for both.Last edited by Skiller; 1st Jan 2023 at 18:25.
