    When viewing the TV signal in AVI-IO, the sound is fine. I capture a small clip and try to play it back, or process it through tempng, and there no audio at all. Anybody know about this problem?

    did you set the audio capture settings first in avi_io ?

    did you check off "capture audio" ?
