  1. y is it that i can watch a full lentgh movie at great quality at a divx movie and i cant capture from my dv camcorder less then somthing like 100 mb per second is there any program that i can capture the movies with and not go over the 700/mb for a hour and a half lentgh movie??
and the quality will be just as good as dvd ppl use virtual dub for divx movies (thats if the dvd is ripped) and then the quailty is great
but how do i do it from my cam corder?

  2. DV camcorders record video at 25Mb/s I believe and when you 'capture' it to your harddrive via firewire you are basically copying the digital data from the tape to your PC, hence tha large size. Once you have it on your PC it can be compressed using one of many codecs and applications to drive them. If you want the smallest size possible for the length of your movie and PC is goind to be your playback device, the divx is the right way to go. Other choices involve converting to VCD or SVCD, burn to CD and playback on any PC or many standalone DVD players. The choice is yours. Whatever compression method you choose, some loss of quality is almost inevitable as all video compression methods worth considering are 'lossy'. That is they throw away data that they think can either be reconstructed at playback (using best guess type algorithms) or won't be missed by the human eye, but none of them is perfect.

For help on chosing the right method for you and finding what tools you need, look to the convert guides on the left of this page.

    Hope this helps
