    Hi good people!

I've been using YouTube-dl, and now yt-dlp, for a long time to archive content from different national nordic streaming services like NRK TV, SVT Play and TV4 Play. It's a great tool for this and have been working great for my needs.

Recently NRK TV changed their viewing policy so that all viewing behind VPN is blocked, ending the possibility to easy download geoblocked content outside of Norway. I'm located in Sweden while trying to download.
Being a Norwegian (part time) resident though, gives my user login privileges to view the content on their site anywhere in Europe, despite the geoblock on some of the content.
I thought I'd use that access and keep downloading, so I found the cookie option and tried it with numerous different videos and both --cookies-from-browser and --cookies but without progress. I wonder if anyone have any suggestions? Shouldn't the cookie provide the authorization in this case?

    Examples of what I've tried:
    yt-dlp -f mp4 --cookies-from-browser chrome "https://tv.nrk.no/serie/heimebane/sesong/1"
(was logged in on NRK TV on Chrome while trying)

    yt-dlp -f mp4 --cookies /Users/MYNAME/Downloads/nrk.no_cookies.txt "https://tv.nrk.no/serie/heimebane/sesong/1"
(cookies extracted using Chrome plugin "Get cookie txt")

    Always comes back with:
ERROR: [NRK] MDRI20001015: NRK said: Ikke tilgjengelig utenfor Norge
(Translates to: Not available outside Norway)

Would greatly appreciate some advice here, this is driving me nuts..

Thank you! I tried using Windscribe and that worked. But I still feel that this is only a temporary solution as NRK is probably blocking this VPN service soon as well. Since I do have the credentials to access everything it would be nice to be able to use it. Any suggestions on that?

You could try something like https://www.mysteriumvpn.com/ this is not a normal VPN as they offer connections from "residential" connections like you have at home, so no servers but you just use some random persons home connection in Norway that has signed up to be a node for Mysterium.

It comes with a price that is more expensive than your average VPN if you download "a lot" but for the occesional few GB here and there it is pretty handy, I use it for a few services that are blocking VPN's very actively and it always works when you use a residential connection.

Thanks! I'll check it out, perhaps this VPN provider is harder for the streaming services to block.
