Ok, I've ripped several 16x9 DVD's using both Smartripper and Clad DVD XP, and have gotten the same result. When I open the .vob files to view them, they are in 16x9, but when I load them into DVD2AVI to convert them, they will only display and convert in 4x3. Smartripper says in the aspect ration 4x3 even on 16x9, and Clad DVD XP does display 16x9 but when I load both of them, I get the same result, squeezed 4x3. What's going on?

I'm not sure what is happening on your system, but if you use CLAD XP, it has DVD2AVI frameserver built in. The resulting output can be convetrted straightaway in TMPGenc, which allows you to choose 16x9, "keep aspect ratio" and "center screen". That leaves you with the same aspect ratio as the original, at least in my case...
