I've read many posts on this subject and ...it sometimes becomes a dicey discussion . Hopefully my goals are simple in that I have probably 70 to 80 Mini DV or Hi8 tapes and want to convert them to digital files so I can save/preserve in digital format; i.e. AVI, WMV or MOV. Whatever will allow me to play back the movies over the years.

I bought a Dazzle DVC1.0 that comes with Pinnacle Studio software; which seems to be WAY overkill for what I want to do. (I don't want to become a movie maker ). I can capture videos pretty well, but, don't know yet how to ...save/export them in the above mentioned format(s). They're support is pretty challenging.
