    I bought a s-video cable to improve my resolution in captures from my handycam.
    I set it up as the manual says, s-video from handycam to purple dongle and set the ati-tv to s-video .
    I get Only black and white...?
    I tried on the tv and it works great...?
    Any suggestions ...?
    I sent a problem report to ati...
    Any one have this problem...

    perhaps the color is messed up on either ur handy cam or the ati's color settings.

    I have ATI TV wonder which came with purple dongle. Two months later I bought AIW Radeon which also came with purple dongle. One works for S-Video, the other only shows luminance signal - black and white - like you describe. Both purple dongles look exactly alike. I have swapped back and forth to verify problem. I conclude the one is defective. I haven't tried any continuity check. May not bother, I only need one working cable.

    See if you can get ATI to send you a new cable.
