i've spent all night burning svcds with a new liteon 48x burner.. anyway i've got 2 types of media, one certified to 48x, and the other to 32x. if i enable smart burn in nero, the max recording speed it lets me do with either media is 40x.. i disabled smartburn, and recorded a bunch of stuff at 48x. it burned fine, and both read perfectly, howevr i just noticed that my pioneer dvd drive wont' read any of them.. wtf...is it because i burned them at 48x? the dvd drive is 106s, so it's not old, and it's been able to read the same media when recorded in my old 8x burner.. any ideas?

My very personal rule of thumb is: "Don't try to burn a (S)VCD at a higher speed than 1/2 of the writers max speed". As we're living in the digital world, this doesn't make sense to me (either the burn works, or it doesn't, and the reader (the DVD) has no way of knowing at what speed the CD-R was burned at!), but I've surrendered to reality
