use a different editor/encoder or upload anything you want. youtube doesn't actually reject many formats.

No, it doesn't. It accepts a number of different container formats:

It might prefer MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, but it'll accept many others.

  5. H.264 is a subset of MPEG-4. It's MPEG-4 Part 10. It's beginning to look like you were wrong in claiming you can't export as MP4. Maybe if you gave the name of the 'Video Editor' someone that uses it or can find out the answer will say more definitively.

Are you trying to automatically upload through VSDC ?
Have you tried uploading manually instead?

Post the specs of your failed upload. Use mediainfo in text view, put the info here.

Perhaps Youtube doesn't like AVC/mp3 inside an avi (just a guess)
Use avidemux to re-wrap the source into an mp4 using output format "mp4 muxer"

Indeed it says AVI in the file properties. Why does my VE save it as avi?
You have to retrace your steps, you probably made a mistake somewhere

Perhaps it's because of the mp3 audio. Try choosing aac. Beyond that I am not familiar with the editor. Once again, look at the options carefully
