help needed with divx avi movies

I have downloaded every possible codec I can find but still can not get divx movies to play in neither the divx alpha player nor ms media player. Actually I can see the seek bar moving and timer, so the video is playing, I just have NO picture or Audio. Any suggestions please???!!!!

Note: I even downloaded the 'gspot codec' detector. It says I have the correct codec installed. Help !!!!!!!!!!!

I assume its not just one bad movie and that you have tried more than one. I found a few blank fakes on KAZAA that looked ligit but were just a series of black frames at 2 fps.

As a starting point, try loading the movie into an editor program like virtualdub and see if you can get the specs (file,info), that should tell you the video and audio codec and try the preview option.

Thanks. Yes I have downloaded a couple movies off kaaza. I tried loading them into virtualdub. And neither work. It says I do not have the correct DX50 codec. I'm just gonna assume they are bad copies. Since I have had other divx stuff and they seem to work. It is beyond me why anyone wonder post bad files.
