Hi!
I successfully converted a wmv video (320x240, 25fps) to avi format using Graphedit. Using the avi, I tried to convert it to VCD (PAL) using VDub 1.4.10 frameserving to TMPGenc Plus 2.58, but the quality was very bad. Very blocky, details (eg. faces, objects) are distorted. I used the following settings:
VDub 1.4.10
temporal smoother (5)
compression : Huffyuv 2.1.1, Predict median/gradient best
TMPGenc Plus 2.58
Video arrange method - custom size at 320x240 (black borders to 352x288)
Noise reduction (50,1,50)
Sharpen (50,50)
Motion Search - Highest quality
Any suggestions to improve the quality?

Personnally I think your TMPGEnc Noise Reduction is far too high... going higher than 20 is not really recommanded because it creates more noise than reducing it. When my picture is not too bad I use 8,1,8 and when the picture is not good you can higher 1 to 2,3 or 4 depending of your movie. Also don't forget to activate "Soften Block Noise" and "Use Floating Point DCT"...
