There are various threads on here about this.

But you make no indication about your location. The bbc i-player exists for UK licence-fee payers for UK licence-fee holders. In fact a very recent change in regulations means that ANY UK viewer requires a tv licence to view the service whereas in the past any UK citizen could legally view the service without the household having a licence.

Add to that that providers constantly change their protocols to deter freeloaders.
