Hi for all![]()
I'm new on the VideoHelp forum, and I wanted to ask if someone of you have a copy of Tmpgenc DVD author 2.57.41.146. And, I wanted also ask that how I can make the VIDEO_TS.IFO size to 160 kb and VIDEO_TS.VOB size to 82 kb? I try to make exact same DVD than which my old, now broken DVD wasAnd sorry my bad english, I'm from Finland

2.57.41.146 is not a version of TMPGEnc DVD Author. There is a TMPGEnc Plus 2.57.41.146 which is an MPEG-1/2 encoding program, but it has no DVD authoring capabilities. The last version in the TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.x series is 2.1.13.109.
The official TMPGEnc website has an archive of prior versions of the programs. They are in the "Discontinued Products" section.

I don't believe you can specify the size of VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.VOB. The size would be whatever the program creates and would depend on what you author and the menu that you create.Last edited by Vidd; 24th Aug 2017 at 17:42.

[QUOTE=dvdmaster1;2494685] The web page in the link to discontinued products clearly states that in order to download a full copy of the program (and DVD Author 2 is listed in the products) you must login to your TMPGenc account. If you registered your copy of the product, the product and its serial number will be listed in your account. The listing will show the latest version of the product that was made available.

[QUOTE=LMotlow;2494690] All right, thank you
My DVD was recorded with LG recording dvd playerI looked into the VIDEO_TS.VOB file with hex editor and there was a section "Encoded by TMPGEnc (version 2.57.41.146) If i'm understanding right, recording DVD players have its own video and audio encoding system

A DVD recorder encodes via dedicated hardware encoder chips. They do not have the processing power to run one of TMPGEnc's software encoders. However, video used for the menu background (possibly produced with a TMPGEnc encoder) could be stored somewhere in the DVD recorder.
Trying to exactly replicate a menu produced by a DVD recorder using a computer requires a lot more work than you think. It is not worth the effort. I know this to be true from personal experience. There is not likely to be a pre-made template in TMPGEnc DVDAuthor which will allow you to create an exact duplicate of the menu produced by your DVD recorder.Ignore list: hello_hello, tried, TechLord, Snoopy329 -
Yep, TMPGEnc doesn't have that menu template already, so I created it myself
I'm interested that can it be possible to make a DVD authoring program that makes exactly same sized VOB files than what our (I mean my family) DVD recorder did ?
I'm sorry for that if I'm asking too difficult questions
I've always been interested in technology and programming

For video, file size = bitrate x run time. (Actually there may be things other than video in a VIDEO_TS.VOB file which contribute to the file size, but the main contributor is the video for the menu background.) I don't recall seeing any authoring software where users have control over the video bitrate used for the menu background.

The recording drive has nothing to do with the size of any files contained on a DVD.
IFO files contain information about the subtitles or button highlights as well as information about the video and audio, plus commands controlling DVD playback. BUP files are backup copies of the IFOs. It makes no sense to obsess over their size. Both are tiny compared to the VOB files.
Button highlights and menu audio also contribute to the size of VIDEO_TS.VOB files, but once again, they are significantly smaller contributors to the over-all file size.Last edited by usually_quiet; 25th Aug 2017 at 16:44.
