I cut/pasted a few 3gp files from my phone to my pc using a usb cable. The transfer seemed to go just fine except that when I tried playing the videos in my computer the first one was around a minute and a half long but it stops playing at 4 seconds. Also, the file size is only 12mb which would be too small for a minute and a half video. All of the other videos that were transferred work perfectly. I don't know if the file was damaged before transferring because I never played it on my phone. Could the transfer itself damage the file? and is there any way to recover it?

If it's content that you feel comfortable sharing, and it doesn't violate forum rules, just attach it here using the Upload files/Manage attachments button underneath the post text entry form and someone can take a look.
I believe Windows is supposed to do a CRC to ensure all file transfers complete successfully. If that is correct, the file you have should match what was stored on the phone.

The video is indeed too small to be 91 secs long.
Maybe you could attempt to use some recovery software to undelete the file on your phone, if you haven't written to your phone's storage much in the past two days. -
