  1. Hello, I use my video card to capture tv episodes and i use mpeg2 740x480 res to do so. i have to convert to divx then cut the comercials with vdub. if i could get a program that could edit the comercials before compresssing i could save a TON of time. any suggestions or programs ive searched for many hours in alot of differnt forums and google, the closest ive come to finding it is womble mpeg2vcr but thats like 300 bucks.

  5. I do it this way. First download the gordanknot package and any updates. Install. Then use dvd2avi to make a dv2 project make sure you use the decode instead of demux in the audio. This will make a wav file.
Open the project with GK and do any resizing you may want to do. Then do a save and encode. Save the avs file but do not encode with GK.
Instead open your avs file with VirtualDub Then load in you wav file as your audio. Edit the file with VD. Get rid of all commercials and the like. When you have edited to your liking then use the save wav under the File options. This will save your edited audio that you can convert to your liking. Go back under the audio options and select none. Then encode the file in the manner you normally do.
The only thing you may want to do is to save your processed setting (under File options) so that if some thing happens (say a power outage) you won't lose your setting.

    Hope this helps

Okay, what I need to do:

Join multisegment AVI's together after editing and encoding with TMPGEnc. Currently, I capture in Mpeg2 (Win 98SE) so the file size is under the 4 Gig limit. If I use Huffy AVI, then I get large multisegment files that have to be filtered in VDub and then frameserved into TMPGEnc for final rendering to SVCD. How would I do this with Gordian Knot? Unfortunately, most guides seem to be ripping/frameserving rather than capturing/frameserving so they are rather useless. I really think AVIsynth, etc. SHOULD be rewritten as Win/Mac/Linux GUI versions without having to go through the hassle of using 3rd party kludges to try to make them work. Then, I would actually contribute to the authors' coffers rather than moaning about the limitations of the product...

  7. I capture TV in MPEG2 as well (Dazzle DVC2), and I do a lot of editing (especially of comercials) using MyFlix. This allows me to cut, join, trim, DMux and Mux. And it's reasonably fast considering it's MPEG

    It's also not that expensive.
