What settings in the BIOS will be restored to default? I'm not sure if mine are default.

Does it effect your hdds, optical drives setup etc?

Just curious before I change mine.

    Thanks

It will resert your time to the default settings of your motherboard plus enable the onboard audio and a few other settings,if you didn't do a custom setting before then all you need to do set the right clock time after.

The only other thing that can happen is if you have 2 hdd then it will default to the first hdd and if your o/s is on the second hdd then you will have to set it in the bios to boot from the 2nd hdd.

also its recommended to Load Optimized Defaults

    Here's a ...... For what its worth.
I'm not speaking about your motherboard, but I remember one motherboard gave you like 30 seconds to change your battery and be able to keep your settings.

My asus 1155 mb would keep my settings even after talking out the battery for at least an hour, only way i could reset the bios was to manually short the bios leads.
