  2. Samsung Galaxy 6 gets some high ratings for videos. Most of the new smart phones do pretty good video. But remember they are not dedicated video cameras. You may have memory problems (not enough) or time limits. For short videos they are fine. Remember to shoot in landscape mode.

If you have moderate to low light source, you still will not be able to avoid creating a VFR (Variable Frame rate) video, which is much harder to edit. Currently, ALL phones default to this, and only a few rare apps avoid it (with other pitfalls as a consequence).

If you can avoid it, don't use your smartphone as your main video camera.

And if you've got a 5DmkIII, you shouldn't even be asking this question! - use that. (Though it still isn't a "video" camera - there are limitations)

    Hi
Scott , i know about the video quality about 5d mark 2 ans 3 , i'm talking to have always a small device to make videos
it's happens that from necessity i have to take photos or videos , i can't carry always my camera , so a smartphone i guess it's the best device

There are other small cam options (P&S, GoPro,...). I understand where you're coming from, but it's a matter of priorities - you COULD always carry a cam (large or small) if it mattered enough to you.

    Hi Scott
which Point and shoot would you suggest ?

and does premiere cc handle the point and shoot with smart rendering?
    thanks

  8. Here's where a site like BHPhotovideo comes in handy. You can choose point and shoot cameras, then sort by price, user reviews, brand, video type and other useful categories. But if your object is to shoot video, like Scott I strongly urge you to consider a video camera.

Premiere CC will not smart render point and shoot camera footage (Nor will any other serious NLE.) For that you need a dedicated smart renderer like TMPGenc MPEG smart renderer or videoredo.

I have this phone and have taken some nice, short videos outside on a recent trip. I haven't had any memory issues yet, probably because I haven't taken that many. It's a good camera overall though.
