Ok i know people talk about this all the time...but plz help

Hey everyone, ok ive converted divx to svce and vcd and dvd to svcd and vcd but now im stuck on the movie "behind enemy lines" on dvd and im trying to rip it to svcd without having the blind looks...ok where do i go to check if i need to used interlace or not, and do i use ntsc or ntsc film....? I know that interlaced makes it like 2 frames and combines them and un-interlaced just goes 1 frame after the other, but i still cant figure out how to make it look good, ok where do i go to check if i need interlaced or not...? Please someone help me :) I suck!! :) lol alright thanks a lot guys, appreciate it.

If you only want it in VCD format I would suggest not to use NTSCfilm or 23.976 fps. A lot of player cannot handle this 23.976 fps very well. Mine is Apex 660ad and wouldn't play right if it's a ntscfilm vcd.

But if you want SVCD format so now you should use ntscfilm or 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown when playback. Oh one more thing to concern, if you choose to go on this road you have to make sure that your dvd is in Film over 80% type, not NTSC otherwise you will get all interace in you encoded movie. Hope this can make you start.

Try to preview the .vob from your hard drive with DVD2AVI. It'll give you some info on the video like interlace or not, frame rate, etc.

get Bitrate Veiwer http://teco.emg.hu/bitratev/BV.EXE just load in the vobs or mpeg files... and it will tell u all about the movie.

Ok look at this, i downloaded that bitrate thing and opened the movie i was gonna encode and it says this

So what im wondering is in tmpeg i would put in ntsc..(NOT film) and put non-interlaced and 16:9.....? scan type is zipzag.............what does that mean in tmpeg...? how would i setup tmpeg for this dvd....? and i dont like burning dvds when i dont know if its going to be good or not(blinds or not) so how can i check if its going to lok right on the tv or not....if i play it on the computer will it look the same on my dvd player....like if tehre are blinds on the monitor does that mean the tv will have them also....?

From what I can tell, Bitrate viewer tells you everything except whether the stream is 24 fps telecines or true 30 fps. You need to use dvd2avi and preview the stream under option - preview. Let it run to the end and if you are over 95% film, you should process with force film, or use the inverse telecine filter in TMPG, and then encode at 24 fps. (Pardon my lack of decimals on the FPS, but you know what I mean.)

have u ever tried using CCE (there is a guide for all this u want to do) http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce-advanced.htm take me 4hrs *wow* 2 do a 2pass VBR - with a 900mhz pc, using avisynth. where it would take 17hrs with rempeg. But the down side is u cant remux it with IFO edit u have to authour it, i use DVDmaestro.

Open the vob files in DVD2AVI and hit F5 to preview. A statistics window will pop up, and it'll have a box that says NTSC or FILM, probably with a percentage.

OK, my computer is on pass 2 of 2 for Blade 2 with CCE to transcode it to a smaller MPEG, and my next step WOULD HAVE been to remux in ifoedit, since I retained all the original menus, just stripped the extras and unwanted audio tracks....

How's come I'm not going to be able to remux it with IFO edit? What makes the m2v transcoded in cce different from one x-coded in TMPEGEnc or ReMPEG2?
