Ok, I know for sure this is in the wrong section, but im so lost and frustrated I figured i'd try here and let whoever put it in the right spot. I bought a cheap 5.1 home theater system a Coby CSP-96 (yes i know its not good, but right now I don't care) I have a HDTV and a Blu-Ray ... I also bought a Yamaha RX-V367 Home Theatre Receiver. I can't get nothing to work except the front right and front left speaker. Im not very tech savvy and im completely lost as to what wire goes where. Im mostly trying to just get the system to work for my blu-ray player. If anyone can help me out i'd greatly appreciate it as for the past 6 months i've been just the use of 2 speakers and the subwoofer. I'd like the other 3 speakers to work when watching a movie. I know the surround system is a cheap one, but thats all I got right now. ...Off topic question, are better surround sound systems easier to hook up? This one came with a basic manual just telling me where to put the wires on the back of the subwoofer thats it.
Thanks

A typical 5.1 (6 channel) system is the two front stereo speakers, the center channel (VERY important as most all the movie dialog is on it.), then a subwoofer for the low frequencies, and two rear channel speakers for surround.
Most all modern amps have a test button or setting that will send a signal to each speaker in turn. If that doesn't work, then likely a wiring problem. Not really familiar with that particular amp, but most work similarly. Some one here may be, and could give you more specific info.
If it passes the speaker test, then you likely have a setting problem in the amp or you aren't sending 5.1 audio to the amp. If you are hooking your HDMI cable to the amp, then passing it through to the TV, then there should be sound there. Make sure HDMI is selected for the sound input in the AMP.
And this is the correct forum for questions that don't seem to fit anywhere else.
