I've a graphic card with tv in and I connect it with the tv by s-video.
Can anyone tell me the best way to capture compressed video. And also what tool can I use to compress even more to fit 100 minutes div-x in a 80 minutes cd?

Use Virtual Dub to capture the video. I usually capture at the highest available setting 720 x 480 (720x576 is also listed but the image only fills 720x480). Use Huffyuv as the compressor. Then exit capture mode. In virtual dub open the avi you've captured. Open the Video -> Filters and add Deinterlace. Configure cropping on this filter to get rid of VHS noise etc. Then add a second filter - Resize (configure for 320x240 if all you want is to play on PCs. Don't resize to 352 x 240 unless you plan on converting to VCD. Your done with the filters. Now go to video -> compression and use Divx 4.12 and use 2 pass encoding. Set Bitrate for 500 (probably more is ok - use Bitrate Calculator to determine optimal bitrate for 100 Min of video). Another thing you may want to consider is reducing framerate to 23 by going to Video -> framerate and using Adaptive Telecine. This will help cut down file size so you can fit more video on the 80 Min CD. Get ready for long wait for 100 minutes of 2 pass encoding.
